Walston Ranch is family owned and operated out of Harper, Texas, located within the beautiful Texas Hill Country! The ranch specializes in a quality cow / calf operation, a pasture to plate beef program, ranch management and consulting, as well as a quarter horse program.
The ranch is managed by a sixth generation ranching family with roots originating back to our Great Grandfather J.W. White. He purchased the original 40,000 acre Mill Creek Ranch in Mason County, Texas in 1889, along with his business partner Major George W. Littlefield. Since 1985, the Walston Ranch has operated much as it has for the past 130 years. Our main focus being caring for and improving native range conditions for the next generation. Throughout the years, the family has made it a top priority to hold true to the values of those who came before us. It remains a strong focus for us today and we take great pride in knowing where ‘we’, the ranch, came from.
The focus of the ranch today continues to be raising quality cattle that can compete in the pasture and in the show ring. Whether you are interested in your next show Champion, or maybe you are just getting started or looking for replacement females - we are here to help! We have also recently initiated a Mill Creek Beef pasture to plate program. We strive to provide a quality, wholesome, and safe beef product for consumers at a reasonable price. We love the opportunity to provide the option for our consumers to shop local. To know exactly where their product is coming from, where it is cared for, and how it is packaged.
Walston Ranch also puts a major emphasis on range and wildlife management. White tail deer, Rio Grande Turkeys, White-wing dove, and feral hogs are just a few of the friends we share our ranch with. Wildlife continues to play a very valuable role in the Edwards Plateau, around where the ranch is located. The views are unlike any other, and we try to snap some photos to share with others as often as we can. Check back from time to time for updated images that we’ve caught around the ranch. We promise, you won’t be disappointed!
Walston Ranch quarter horses began with our forefathers Walker White and his brother Dub White on Mill Creek Ranch. The two started raising polo horses and later raised and showed cutting horses in the 1940’s in Fort Worth and numerous other shows across Texas. Quarter horses have been an integral part of our ranching heritage from the beginning. No matter what you are interested in, we just may have what you are looking for. Please contact us with questions or for additional information on our quarter horse program.
